2020 Cancer New Moon Eclipse – Shifting the Age Before it is Ready

On June 21, 2020 at 2:40 AM EDT in the morning the New Moon in Cancer will cause an annular solar eclipse that is visible throughout most of Asia. This eclipse occurs on the Summer Solstice, the ingress point for the Sun into the sign of Cancer. This is one of the world axis in astrology that the heavens turn on. In the ancient world, this world axis more important that the Aries-Libra one, because it was thought that the universe was born with a Cancer rising chart, the Thema Mundi.

I did mention the importance of this Eclipse my post on the shifting of the of Cancer-Capricorn world axis a few weeks ago. In the that post I began testing whether the true or mean node is the best for the mundane charts. Because this Eclipse falls on this axis, this will trigger major events in short order. While eclipses can effect things for a up to six months, I expect world shaking events to happen by the end of the month when Mars ingresses into Aries squaring the eclipse point exactly. This happens on June 28, 2020, I would give a week or two on either side of this date as for the timing.

This eclipse in the Washington D.C. chart stands alone without a major aspect in the traditional sense. It does make a partile quincunx to Saturn in Aquarius. While not a traditional aspect, this is significant as this is the degree of the upcoming Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in December. It is almost like the Saturn is looking at the the eclipse and rethinking about how to express itself when it conjoins Jupiter in a few months. The quincunx is a stressful aspect, that requires some type of mental adjustment. It is like adjusting to a stare from a distance that is uncomfortable.

Because of the significance of Saturn being at the point of the upcoming Jupiter-Saturn conjunction I am going to divide my interpretation into three categories. Individual/Personal, National/Mundane, and International/Mundane. This eclipse will effect a lot more than just the US.

Individual/Personal Level

First, on the individual level, the eclipse occurs in the 3^rd House of the Washington D.C. chart. This means the effect will occur most in your neighborhood or local community. It could also involve siblings if one has any, but given the quincunx to Saturn in the 10^th House, it is more likely your community. The quincunx to Saturn here represent the new rules or restrictions that come into effect as the US is affected by the eclipse. You will have to make an adjustment to this.

Since it is quincrux, this new order will likely not directly affect your home or community, but you and your neighbors will be be forced to acknowledge it. How you react and what you think of doing will partially determine your response when Jupiter conjoins Saturn at 0 Aquarius in December.

The key to effecting the future, if you can, is Venus. Venus rules both the first decan of Cancer and Aquarius. Venus is retrograde in Gemini which means it has accidental debility. This could indicated a lack of consensus in your local community and possibly at home too. If that does happen, remember at you can create a new consensus with the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction when Venus is direct.

National/Mundane Level

At the mundane level, the 3^rd House rules the nation’s communication and transportation system. An eclipse in this house means there is a higher likely hood of transportation accidents. So be careful when traveling. However given the the quincunx to Saturn in the 10^th House, the more likely experience would be restricted travel do to protests or riots in the major cities. This will not happen in every city but, it will definitely affect transportation. This will include food shipments too since it occurs in Cancer. Most food in the US is trucked in to your community from thousands of miles away so it is a 3^rd House issue, unless you grow own.

Travel restriction could be put into effect due to resurgence covid in certain cities. A retrograde Mercury rules the 6^th House, the US’s health. While covid infections may increase, this is not the second wave and there are no indications of one right now. We have to wait for the Mars retrograde in September, October, and November for that to occur. Mars is the natural ruler of diseases and it will square the Saturn-Pluto conjunction point which started the pandemic three times due to the retrograde.

In addition to the potential travel restrictions, communication restrictions on internet are going to happen at an increasing pace. Freedom of speech on the internet is becoming a key issue in the upcoming election. Facebook has refused to ban political ads on its site, while Twitter is fast at work in trying to censor any opinion they don’t like.

Trump, the Department of Justice, and the Republican lead Senate are working on legislation and regulations to strip internet companies of the Section 230 immunity if they limit free speech. This would allow users to sue companies like Google, Facebook, & Twitter if they limit users free speech. As a reminder for foreign readers, in the US there are no laws against so called hate speech due to the 1^st Amendment. This is different in most other Western countries.

This is part of a push back against the growing Cultural Revolution in the US. This is similar to the Mao’s Cultural Revolution started in 1966 which saw thousands of people persecuted in China because their ancestors were the wrong class (former landlords). Astrologically this relates to Saturn opposing a Uranus Pluto conjunction by sign. During the same time period some of the worst race riots occurred the US too, the US was not left untouched by this planetary aspect although the worse of it happened after this aspect had passed.

The similarities are striking, both today’s US protest movement and the Chinese Cultural Revolution were started on college campuses. Both cases have the schools shut down, but for different reasons. In China, the police were ordered to stand down like many are in the US today to “create space” for rioters and looters. Both are destroying history or in the US case attempting to do so. However the US is not China and this is a different time.

Notably differences are that the racial tensions are still present in the US in a way China has not dealt with. Also the US has a two party system, and therefore there is political support for the opposing side unlike China’s one party system. This time astrologically, Saturn is in conjunction with Pluto loosely squaring Uranus which gives a different flavor to the social unrest.

This eclipse could be the start of the US Cultural Revolution, but if it is it will be an aborted attempt that doesn’t have same lasting effects. This is because the quincrux to Saturn, the new order cannot be formed at this time. But after the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in December it can. In the meantime, we will have to live with the short term fallout if this is attempted.

In my opinion this what every individual will have to deal with in their community for the next 6 months or so no matter which side of the culture revolution they fall on. It also makes the upcoming US presidential election too unpredictable to predict right now.

International/Mundane Level

While the US has to deal with internal restrictions and unrest. The rest of the world is left on their own. No where else is this more apparent than in Asia where the total eclipse will be visible. The path of totality is where the effects of the eclipse are most effective. This path passes directly over China, the country that is trying its hardest to flex its muscle internationally after they released covid on the world.

China has already formally annexed Hong Kong ending its quasi-independent status and likely plunging the city into a depression they will not recover from for decades. China is about trying to make several other moves. First they want to annex Taiwan. But this is harder since the US keeps giving the island nation weapons. The eclipse goes right over Taiwan and into China.

The more pressing concern is the border clash with India. This is already starting as on June 16, over 20 Indian soldiers were killed in hand to hand combat with Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh. The Chinese casualties were not report but are estimated to more than India’s.

There is a high risk for war between the two nuclear powers. India’s leader, Prime Minister Modi is hard-line Hindu nationalist and is more than ready to go to war against China. The eclipse path of totality passes right next to the disputed border between India and China too. The risk for this turning into war is very high as both nations are building up their troops in the region.

I have predicted trouble for China and possible war for them during the summer in this post here. I may have just been wrong on whether it was civil war or an external one.

With the US occupied at home and unable and not willing to play world police anymore, this along the Korea Issue, a renewed war in Libya (caused by Turkey), and a brewing conflict between Egypt and Ethiopia, war could come very swiftly in several parts of the world once.

This eclipse is shaping up to be the biggest event of the 2020 so far. And given the first half the year that is saying something!
