2020 Leo New Moon – Finding New Entertainment In Isolation
This year’s Leo New Moon occurs on August 18, 2020 at 10:41 PM EDT. In the Washington D.C. chart for the United States, the New Moon occurs in the 5th House. There are four aspects to this New Moon which are important, A conjunction to Mercury, a quincunx to Saturn in the 10th House in Capricorn, a trine Mars in the 12th House in Aries, and a sextile to the North Node in the 2nd House in Gemini.
The 5th House New Moon’s focus is on national entertainment in mundane charts. This can be theaters, sporting event, or other places of amusement. The closest aspect during this New Moon is the quincunx to Saturn with a 3 minute orb, showing that these activities will likely still be restricted in much of the country due to the pandemic. Although some sporting events are on TV now, there are still limited options attending. People need to find an outlet for their creative energy. Where does it go?
If it goes to Mercury, then the people could channel it into their work and making money. Mercury is combust the Sun, so this will figuratively “burnout” the portion of the population who does this. All work and no fun leads to a lot of stress and unhappiness. However, this may be fated for a lot of people as the New Moon is sextiling the North Node in the 2nd House. People may be fated to work hard for their money this month.
Mars in the 12th House is the other option here. This option may lead to anger where people are tired of the quarantines and lock downs, take to the street, riot, and cause mayhem. Mars in the 12th House may indicate an overall increase in crime according to most traditional mundane astrology sources. Since Aries is intercepted in the 12th House, if this occurs it may be out of the headlines as the media and government will not want this to be seen right before upcoming US Presidential Election.
However, Mars doesn’t always have to be destructive. Because this aspect is a harmonious trine and both Mars and the Sun are in domicile this can be a very positive energy. Possibly, groups of people could create their own quarantine approved sporting events and competitions among themselves to to directing that energy into something fun and creative. People wouldn’t even have to start from starch as there historical examples of distance sports related sports would meet most health regulations.
